Randy tells you he's going to Russia to teach English and to live there for who knows how long. You could be his bud hearing the story while sharing a beer back at the house. But your bud wouldn't edit his tales and details with Randy's finesse. So his storytelling sneaks up on you, unfolding simply, gently with word pictures of everyday life in Siberia. It takes awhile for the extent of his talent to sink in. For those of us who will never go where he went or experience what happened to him, this is as close as we'll ever get to our own Siberian adventure. Reading Randy Black's Tales from Siberia is worth the trip.
