Great colors and concept. But disappointed that more wasn't done for a more comprehensive color/ and eating book. The spread for each color looked great, but I would have have liked several more pages of foods (and a greater variety) and a greater variety of colors. Rather than all greens together, maybe light green and dark green. Whole cuke with the slices. Maybe orange fruits and orange vegetables. . . . Where were the whites (cauliflower, bread and milk?) The purples? Beets, plums, grapes, cherries, eggplant? The browns - potatoes, beans. Black - olives. Or a few less common foods - tofu, okra, plantains, bok choy, jicama. Where would you put mushrooms? maybe one page for the bell peppers and a page for the grapes.

I have another colors board book that I love. It's quite thorough, with twice as many colors represented and plenty of examples for each color, so I didn't really *need* another colors book. Still, I thought this one might be a good supplement geared specifically towards eating, seeing as I have a bit of a picky eater.I felt a bit letdown when I received it, though.Compared to the other book, most of the spreads here simultaneously have less going on, yet feel more cluttered, due to the lack of negative space (the cover is a bit misleading in this regard). Honestly, each spread looks like an art project you could do with your kid by cutting out a bunch of fruits and vegetables, then pasting them into different color-themed collages. There's nothing wrong with that (and based on the reviews, it works for some people), but if I'd known this was the case, I probably would've gone ahead and done that myself to give us something to do. Bonus: laminate the collages afterward and use them as placemats during meal times. In these collages, kids look like they're sitting on giant tomatoes, holding up giant blueberries, and lying down on giant bananas. Some people might think it's cute, some people might think it's cheesy. I'm in the latter camp. The text says "Eat a rainbow," so I find it kind of odd that they didn't include purple, despite it being on the cover. It's not like purple fruits and vegetables don't exist: Grape, fig, purple cauliflower, eggplant, red cabbage, red onion (?), purple yam, plum. There are white kids, black kids, and mixed white/black kids. If you're going to take a stab at being diverse, then with spots for 10 kids, there isn't any reason you couldn't include Hispanic or Asian kids, too.

Our 14 month old has lots of books but we thought this would be a good pre-dinner book. There's not too much to it. The pictures are vivid but she's just not that into it. We'll circle back to it in a couple weeks and see if that changes.

Love it!

So cute and fun!

Excellent quality.
