This was always the essential guide to LA architecture. As the original authors aged it contracted from a larger area to LA County. Then it remained without update for years. With help from Robert Inman it has finally been updated.Yes, the updates are limited. Out are buildings no longer around or accessible. In are a few new ones. One change I don't like is the deletion of neighborhood maps. Sure, in this age of cell phone apps you don't need them to find an address. But they helped plan a trip to a neighborhood.Nonetheless, having an update to this essential guide can only be welcomed.

This is I think the sixth--and certainly the last of these guidebooks to Los Angeles Architecture. I say last because Professor Robert Winter, the principal author of these guidebooks, passed away recently. It's a great book to have in your car if you are visiting an unfamiliar part of the city. The descriptions of the houses and building are precise--and sometimes bluntly humous. I bought this edition for my wife for Christmas.The first edition was published in 1965. B
