About the Author

Moe and Paige Becnel are natives of New Orleans, Louisiana, and reside in Baton Rouge with their dog, Belle. They met in 1987 and married in 1989, blending a family of five children. Formerly in the utility business, medical field, and Singles Pastors at Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, (leading singles, single parent, divorce recovery and Blended Family ministries), the Becnels founded Blending A Family Ministry in 2002. We are using this book and workbook to lead a Blended Family small group. This book does an excellent job of covering every single topic.

This book was such a blessing to me. It addressed many of the ways I have been feeling in my blended family towards my husband and his children. It let me know that my feelings were natural but gave me hope that things can and will change for the better. The Becnel's were very open & honest in the way they felt and handled their problems. Paige stated in Chapter 6, "Loving and parenting a child who was not born to you is not a natural thing." This really helped me and my husband in understanding that there's a process for us to bond to one anothers children, love didn't come at first sight, so to speak. She also suggested that you mentally & emotionally adopt your new children making them a vital part of your world. My husband even read this book and told me how much he enjoyed it. There was a previous review by a lady who didn't like this book or didn't enjoy all the scripture references but as Christians the Word should be our manual by which we live. I was blessed by the scripture references and by the prayers!!! If you are on the verge of leaving your home because of difficulties with your husband/wife or stepchildren please get this book first and apply the principles given!!!!

Best book on Blendeds out there!

My husband and I blended our family 9 years ago. Before we got married we both read this book. It helped so much to see things we might not have seen initially or expected. In a lot of ways it made us feel "normal." We recently had friends getting married and blending their family and we ordered it for them. We pray it was as much a blessing to them as it was to us. A great gift to any couple getting married and blending a family.

This is a must read for any relationship that is moving towards marriage when both sides have children from previous marriages. It is a very valuable book. I cant say enough good about it. It is very realistic, it doesnt give false hopes or suger coat anything. It is straight forward!!

I am only finishing chapter 2, I have 6 kids, 4 mine 2 his, and this book has brought me to tears. The hope and clarity! Can't wait to keep reading! I will definitely be recommending this book to every blended family i know!

On my goodness, this is a must read if you are part of a step-family/blended family. We bought a few books on the subject when we got married and this one has the most relevant information for our situation - we both have kids from previous marriages.
